Lineman Electrical
The Lineman in Electrical Construction is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power systems, including overhead and underground power lines. This role involves working with high voltage equipment and requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, safety protocols, and construction practices.

- Installation and Maintenance:
Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical power lines and auxiliary equipment. Set up and take down poles, towers, and other structures to support electrical lines. String wire conductors and install transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and other electrical devices. - Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Conduct safety inspections and ensure that all tools and equipment are in proper working condition. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures to prevent accidents and
injuries. - Troubleshooting and Repairs:
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, including power outages and equipment failures. Perform emergency repairs to restore electrical service as quickly as possible. Collaborate with other team members to solve complex electrical problems.
- Technical Skills:
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Operate specialised equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, and hydraulic lifts. Use hand tools and power tools to complete various tasks. - Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other linemen, electricians, and construction personnel to complete projects efficiently. Communicate effectively with supervisors and project managers regarding project status and any issues arise. Provide training and guidance to junior linemen and apprentices. - Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including materials used and time spent on each task. Prepare reports on project progress and any incidents or accidents that occur on the job site.
Qualifications/Skill Required:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a lineman apprenticeship program or technical school is preferred.
- Certifications: Valid Lineman certification and any other relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA safety
training). - Skills:
Strong understanding of electrical systems and construction practices. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and teamwork
abilities. - Experience:
Minimum of 2 – 3 years of experience as a lineman in electrical construction.
- Physical Requirements:
Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions. Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labour and lift heavy equipment. Good hand eye coordination and balance. - Work Environment:
Outdoor work environment with exposure to various weather conditions. Potential exposure to high voltage electricity and hazardous materials. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. - Compensation:
